My son and I once visited the Hemet Maze Stone, a prehistoric petroglyph, in Reinhardt Canyon near Hemet, California. I was also intrigued by the cave drawings in the movie, "The English Patient". I wanted to do a watercolor painting of a Native American cave painting, but found the Paleolithic painting from the Altamira Cave in Spain to have an interesting composition. I like the way most of the animals are running from right to left, but some lighter, ghostly animals are running in the opposite direction. I usually sign and date my artwork but for some reason, like the original cave painting, I thought it better to leave it unsigned.
