In June of this year, we stayed in a cabin on the coast of Maine with our son and daughter-in-law, and her family. The cabin was at the Hiram Blake Camp. In the dining room, they had a Half Hull Ship Model on the wall. That was my inspiration to do this piece. In the 1800's, shipwrights used these models as a guide for the ship's design and to insure the ship would be symmetrical. My model is made of mahogany and is mounted on a poplar board. It will remind us of our wonderful time on our trip to Maine. |
